Genesis 2: Gospel Community: Do people know you?
Rodney Hobbs
 Genesis 2:15-18
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” 18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Community creates clarity.

We all have dysfunction.
Mirror analogy: do you see what I’m seeing?

Community provides protection.

 Applications / implications:
You need church as family. You have to take the initiative.
If you don’t pursue it until you need it it’s too late.
Four questions to determine level of community in my life:

Does anyone know my biggest struggle or sinful tendencies?
Have I invited people into my life to see how my marriage is, how I spend my money, etc.?  Have I given them permission to speak into those areas of my life?
How do I make decisions? In isolation or in community?
In the last six months, has anyone asked hard questions or challenged me?
