I grew up in a loving, but gospel-absent home. It was a pornography addiction I developed as a boy that ultimately led me to sense my need for forgiveness, which I found in the arms of Jesus. God formed me in my early years through good discipleship by godly men. They taught me to treasure God’s word and I grew eager to share what I was learning. I also had a passion for music and began writing and performing as I moved into my college years.
I studied history at Texas A&M, and it was there I met my wife, Kelly, and began touring as a recording artist. After about a decade of travel, the Lord led me off the road to focus on serving the local church. We were already members at Stonegate years before I came on staff full time, and it’s been a joy to serve this church family both then and now as one of its pastors.
Besides hanging with my wife and 5 kids, my happiness is highest when I can find creative, compelling ways to convey the worth of Jesus to people. Besides music, one of my outlets for this is a podcast I co-host with my wife called Clearly. I also write children’s books, cause…why not?
When it comes to Stonegate, I am so eager for our church to see the Lord as the greatest treasure. When He becomes the center of our universe, life gets better! With all my heart I want us to be a people who embody Stonegate’s mission statement: Enjoy Jesus. Make disciples.
